Welcome to this month's Featured Links section. You can catch up on previous Featured Links here:

Featured Links this month come in two categories. First we review two new on-line introductory New Testament Greek courses, one by Jeff Smelser and the other by Michael Haggett. Second, there are three new on-line versions of classics at the ever-expanding source of internet reproductions of Theological and Religious literature, Religion On-Line.

New Testament Greek
By Jeff Smelser: an excellent new on-line introductory Greek course. Currently this site features nine chapters to take students through roughly the first third of a first year course, with lucid explanations, detailed assignments and plenty of helps like the "Clik-Thru Tutor" and flash-cards. The site is well-designed and pleasing to the eye, and there is plenty of audio help too. The shareware Greek font SGreek is required. The course is free for those wishing to browse and learn, but requires registration for interaction with the tutor. More courses are promised in the future. This is one of the latest additions to the Greek New Testament Gateway (learning section).

New Testament Greek
By Michael Haggett: another fine introductory Greek course; this is one of the latest additions to the Greek New Testament Gateway (learning section). This well-produced course uses the free unicode font Athena (and includes details on how to download this if you do not already have it) and has audio samples to help with pronunciation throughout (with easy-to-follow instructions on how to set these up). Unlike the previous course, there are no accents, iota subscripts or smooth breathings (though the author gives his justification for this decision). While much of the course is present on the web site, the full version is only available for purchase on CD-ROM. You will also find on the same site a browsable on-line version of the entire Greek New Testament in a version "substantially similar to the 'Standard' text used in both NA27 and UBS4".

Robert M. Grant, A Historical Introduction to the New Testament
The complete text of Robert M. Grant, A Historical Introduction to the New Testament (New York: Harper and Row, 1963) is now available at Religion Online. This is a valuable addition to the anyone's on-line library of New Testament resources. [Note: if you would like to read an interesting contemporary review of Grant's Historical Introduction by a famous NT scholar, go to Werner Georg Kümmel, Review of R. M. Grant, A Historical Introduction to the New Testament in Theology Today 21/2 (July 1964), pp. 234-6].

Joachim Jeremias, The Lord's Prayer
The complete text of Joachim Jeremias, The Lord's Prayer (ET by Norman Perrin; Philadelphia: Fortress, 1964) is now available at Religion Online. This is another valuable addition to the anyone's on-line library of New Testament resources.

Joachim Jeremias, The Sermon on the Mount
The complete text of Joachim Jeremias, The Sermon on the Mount (ET by Norman Perrin; London: Athlone, 1961 and Philadelphia: Fortress, 1963) is also now available at Religion Online.
