Welcome to this month's Featured Links section. You can catch up on previous Featured Links here:
The main focus this month is the major new web site Ars-rhetorica, incorporating two on-line journals of interest to New Testament scholars, the Journal for the Rhetorical Criticism of the New Testament, which has been around for a while, and the new experimental journal Queen: A Journal of Rhetoric and Power. But if this is not to your taste, I have also included a link to an on-line version of Eldon Jay Epp's fine Anchor Bible Dictionary article on "Textual Criticism: New Testament".
Ars-rhetorica
Sponsored by the Centre for Rhetorics and Hermeneutics and the New Testament Rhetoric Project, this web site provides full details of the centre, its editorial board, upcoming conferences and two journals:
- Journal for the Rhetorical Criticism of the New Testament
Founding editor: James D. Hester: an on-line journal focusing on rhetorical critical methods and the New Testament. This has been on the web for a couple of years and provides a useful on-line location for bibliographies, book reviews and especially conference papers. See especially the Archives section.
- Queen: A Journal of Rhetoric and Power
This is a new journal; it is experimental (and you are warned that the some of the language and content may be offensive to some readers). The journal is not primarily a New Testament one, but there are some articles that will be of interest to scholars and students of the New Testament. Note in particular:
Eldon J. Epp, "Textual Criticism: New Testament" (Update: no longer available, September 2002)
Full reproduction of Epp's fine introduction to New Testament textual criticism from the
Anchor Bible Dictionary. An easy to use frames-based electronic edition, divided into sections. This is one of the latest additions to the
Textual Criticism section.
