Reconstruction of the head of a first century Jewish male This month's Featured Links page begins with a link to the web site of the new BBC / Discovery television series Son of God (showing in the U.S.A. as Jesus: The Complete Story). Even if you have not seen any of the series, you may well have come across the reconstruction of the head of one of Jesus' Jewish contemporaries in the media, often accompanied by (misleading) headlines like "Is this the face of Jesus?" Since I was involved with this project, I thought it might worthwhile to include some details in this month's Featured Links. There are many other on-line news materials available on this, including a two-minute video report from MSNBC in the U.S.A., A Fresh Look at Jesus' Face (see what I mean about those headlines!). Also this month, investigate a major new web site on Paul called As Paul Tells It by J. Peter Bercovitz. And you have until April 16 to take advantage of a freebie: New International Version Bible Software.

Son of God (New URL, Nov. 2001)
Web Site designed to accompany the landmark BBC TV Series of the same name currently showing in the U.K., but also distributed world-wide. The site features information on the series, including details and a short video on the reconstruction of the head of a first century Jewish male from Israel (on which I was an advisor). Also included is an excellent guide to Jesus as a Modern Icon and full information on Programme Contributors.

Jesus: The Complete Story
Discovery Channel web site connected with the same series. Features some basic information, preview video and a Photo Gallery.

As Paul Tells It
By J. Peter Bercovitz: large scholarly web site featuring original materials on Paul working on the basis of a John Knox / Gerd Lüdemann type letters-first chronology. The site is well designed and you have the option of working through it sequentially, page by page, or of navigating from the front page. It works on a variety of levels, from introductory (e.g. Paul's Resumé) to more advanced (e.g. Letters Based Chronology). Also features good background material on early Christianity and useful sections on Acts. This major new web site is one of the latest additions to the Paul the Apostle section.

Free NIV Bible Software   Only available until April 16
For a very limited period (until April 16) you can download the whole of the New International Version of the Bible in Zondervan's Reference Software -- a fully searchable and flexible programme. It is made available by Mike Scupin in association with Zondervan and RhinosoftInteractive.com. It takes about 30 minutes to download over a 56k dial-up modem.
