FAQ: Q 6 - 10
Q 1 to 5 Q 6 to 10 Q 11 to 15 Q 16 to 20
- Where do you find the links?
The links come from a variety of sources. Some are sent by their authors (often via the suggestion form), some by others who just want to recommend a resource. Others come from the Academic E-Lists, often a good source of the latest information. Others are the result of my own surfing and research.
- What are the criteria for selection?
The primary criterion for inclusion is the academic quality of the resource. In other words, a link to a site is added if it is likely to benefit scholars and students of the New Testament.
- Why has my link not been included?
Some of the links that are not included are those that were not felt to be appropriate on an academic site like The New Testament Gateway. But it may be that a given link has not been included because I do not know about it or have forgotten about it. So please don't be discouraged and, if necessary, submit your link again. I try to respond to all suggestions sent to me, but please be patient if I do not reply straight away -- this and my other internet resources generate massive amounts of correspondence and I cannot guarantee speedy replies every time. Remember that I do not have administrative or secretarial back-up for the running of this site, and I also have a full time academic job!
- There is a lot of material here. Where should I begin?
There is no recommended starting point. One person's needs are different from another's. If you have come here via a search engine, try using The New Testament Gateway's own search engine to pinpoint the precise information you need. You can begin your search from any page. Alternatively, enjoy browsing through the topically organised pages. Other than the welcome page, the most popular page here is (by far) the Historical Jesus, generating 17 per cent of all hits. The next most popular is the Greek New Testament Gateway.
- Is there anything on this site for beginners?
Since The New Testament Gateway is designed primarily with academics in mind, and given that I am a New Testament scholar myself, the site inevitably reflects this emphasis. However, the site also features links aimed specially at beginners and less advanced students. Every page features links that will interest not only professional scholars but also enthusiastic amateurs and beginning students. In particular, try the special section on General Introduction and Student Learning.
